The Ecuadent family is deeply saddened to announce the recent passing of one of its most dedicated, compassionate volunteers, Judi Bullock. Judi was one of the longest serving volunteers of the foundation who had joined Ecuadent as a dental assistant on one of the early missions after being recruited by Dr. Bob Scott. Judi worked in Dr. Scott’s practice, so it was a natural fit for her professional talents and her big heart.
Judi built up experience mission after mission and was known for her kindness, hard work, and lighthearted fun. She was a source of positivity on the dental missions year after year. Her diligent work went on all year round as she collected many boxes of much needed dental supplies and toys for the children. Judi was one of the strongest advocates for children’s wellness when they had their appointments on mission, and she knew how important it was for the children to feel comfortable visiting the dentist. She wanted the children to look at the entire dental team as their friends there to heal them, not hurt them. The high-quality care combined with a bit of fun was always the goal that Judi encouraged and help lead with her fellow mission teammates. She looked forward to going to remote communities which lacked resources and working to help the children in those areas of Ecuador. Her welcoming, inclusive personality made her a motherly figure to many volunteers on the mission and many of us looked up to her for her experience. She was always happy to lend anyone a helping hand to staff, Armada, parents of the patients, and her fellow volunteers. Judi also had limitless energy and made it common practice to go for a few-mile run before the start of each clinical day. While Judi has accumulated many loving friends over the years with Ecuadent, no one knew her as well as Rosemary Hill. Rosemary was one of Judi’s most loyal friends. The two of them were always roommates on all the missions they went on, keen to enjoy a glass of wine of friendship between clinical hours and our group dinners. Rosemary was with Judi on her last day here on Earth, holding her friend’s hand to be with her to the very end. We would also like to take this opportunity to send our heartfelt condolences to Rosemary too. Judi Bullock was a kind, caring human being, always preoccupied with the wellness of others. She never took the proverbial day off and it was this attitude that enabled her to truly make a difference in so many lives over the years and we mourn her loss and what that means to her family, friends, and the foundation. However, we will carry on and raise her memory as a banner of hope and continue holding her as an exemplary volunteer to be emulated. May our dear friend Judi Bullock rest in peace.
